Burning Bush? Can He Take the Heat?
Fri Apr 20, 2007 at 11:14:40 AM PDT
You need to check out Gene Weingarten's column from last Sunday. I don't usually think much of what he writes is that funny, but this one was different.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
Once upon a time, no one criticized George W. Bush. That was about five years ago, when questioning the president was unpatriotic. Then, gradually, liberals began to voice grievances, then moderate Democrats, then liberal Republicans, then moderate Republicans, and now we're seeing uber-conservative hammerheads such as Bob Novak and Rich Lowry using the I-words: "inept" and "incompetent." Foreign heads of state have started to take potshots at Bush when he's standing right next to them, during photo ops.
It's as though we've reached a tipping point. Any day we're going to see Laura in an "I'm With Stupid" T-shirt.
You almost feel sorry for the guy, 'cause there's no indication this is going to get any better. In fact, it'll probably get worse, and the heat is liable to come from anywhere.

Impressive Debut of "30 Days" - Living on Minimum Wage
Thu Jun 16, 2005 at 09:46:53 AM PDT
Made sure to watch Morgan Spurlock's new show on FX last night "30 Days". Morgan is the filmmaker behind the acclaimed "Super Size Me". Each episode he will investigate what it's like to spend 30 days living in someone elses shoes.
The first episode was about living on minimum wage. I really wouldn't call that living.

Star Wars Again - Bush Turns to Space Weapons
Wed May 18, 2005 at 06:47:36 AM PDT
We're involved in the "War on Terror™". Our military is stretched too thin in Iraq as it sits as a daily target of car bombs and other violence. Our budget deficit continues to explode under irresponsible tax cuts. What does Bush do? Let's ramp up our space-based weapon systems?
WTF?
Funny Letter about PROUD DEMOCRAT Wristbands
Wed May 11, 2005 at 06:47:28 PM PDT
I recently started a Web site (
http://www.prouddemocrat.us) to sell royal blue silicon wristbands with the embossed words "PROUD DEMOCRAT". 20% of the proceeds are being donated to the DNC. In about 8 weeks, I've sold wristbands in about 25 different states on word-of-mouth. It's not much, but it feels good to help the cause.
Wal-Mart Rolling Back... Wages
Wed May 11, 2005 at 07:09:49 AM PDT
The Raleigh News-Observer reported today that a Wal-Mart in Garner, NC will be rolling back wages for 70 employees hired since last June. A quarterly pay audit found that these employees were making more than they should have. The employees will face a $1.00 or more pay cut to their hourly salary. Thankfully employers are not allowed to impose retroactive wage cuts.
Discovery Place to Show Volcanoes of the Deep Sea!
Fri Apr 01, 2005 at 10:57:16 AM PDT
Well that didn't take long.
Yesterday I wrote that Discovery Place announced that were reconsidering their decision to not carry the supposed controversial Volcanoes of the Deep Sea.
One day later, Discovery Place comes out and says they will be showing the movie 3 times on April 14th and then work the film into their regular rotation starting in August.
Charlotte IMAX May End Up Showing Volcanoes of the Deep Sea
Thu Mar 31, 2005 at 06:31:28 AM PDT
I
wrote last week about how IMAX theaters in the South were caving
the possibility of religious pressure in carrying
Volcanoes of the Deep Sea.
Well, after receiving lots of negative publicity in Charlotte Observer, Charlotte science museum Discovery Place is reconsidering its decision to not carry the movie.
Apparently enough people, including myself, sent e-mail or contacted Discovery Place asking them to carry the movie. We MUST continue to do this or theaters will assume they are right to not carry movies on the belief that people in there area won't see it because it clashes with religious beliefs.
Help convince them to carry the movie by sending e-mail to: info@discoveryplace.org. You can also call them at (704) 372-6261 and ask to speak to Jim Hoffman, director of marketing and public relations.
Here's the latest update from The Charlotte Observer:
IMAX Theaters Caving Not to Offend the Religious
Mon Mar 28, 2005 at 09:13:59 AM PDT
I'm proud to live in the South for the most part. I live in one of the more progressive parts of the South -- in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina between three major universities, UNC, Dook & NC State. The area is more democratic than most regions of the South. (Funny how that works. The more educated a region is, the more likely the region will vote Democratic instead of Republican.)
Yet, we have IMAX theaters located in the South that are refusing to show James Cameron's "Volcanoes of the Deep Sea", which makes a connection between human DNA and microbes inside undersea volcanoes.
Media Madness 2005

I'm so sick of these fake "town hall" meetings
Tue Mar 22, 2005 at 11:09:28 AM PDT
...that I'd like to start expressing this using techniques displayed on freewayblogger.com. I'd like to see some suggestions for phrases to use on these banners about these sham "public" meetings.
* Bush, Your "Town Hall" Meetings Are a Joke.
* Bush, Why Are You Afraid to Meet with Real Americans?
* Holding Fake Town Hall Meetings is Cowardly.
* Could YOU get into a Bush "Town Hall"? No.
These stink. Need something more witty and biting. I think words like "cowardly", "fake" are strong.
Let the ideas flow!
Indignities, present and future
Fri Mar 18, 2005 at 08:02:29 AM PDT
I wish I could write like this from StandTall
http://standtall.typepad.com/stand_tall/2005/03/indignities_pre.html
Indignities, present and future
Not a day goes by that this administration doesn't spit in our collective face, then cynically allay our concerns with syrupy assurances that their gobs of purulent sputum are only kisses. And the masses of the ignorant and uninformed, encouraged by the suck-ass media, squeal "Ooooh, good sugar," as they swallow another steaming, noxious helping of Bushit.
What will people do if Bush wins with election dirty business?
Fri Oct 29, 2004 at 02:02:48 PM PDT
If the vote is close (and I don't think it will be... in Kerry's favor),
What do you think Democratic supporters will do if Bush wins again due to ballot irregularities in one or more states like Florida in 2000? Something that really looks like he stole YET another election... What will people do?
Do you see riots? Everyone buying black hoodies and doing more than registering to vote? Everyone spending their time making & placing signs like you see on Freeway Blogger (http://www.freewayblogger.com)?
It could get EXTREMELY UGLY. I think there would be hundreds of thousands of people out there who would rebel in many different ways. Massive march on DC, etc...
I don't think this will happen. Kerry will win, but if Bush pulls a stunt that gets him reelected...
What do you think?
